End of Summer / Taking a break in September

End of Summer / Taking a break in September

Holy shit guys. I can't believe we are just about done with August. This summer was a whirlwind of emotions. I had such a blast with everyone and I can't wait to see what my favorite time of the year has in store!

While we're on the topic of end of summer, I have a few more events! Tomorrow (8/30) I'll be heading over to Life Is Succulent for their Full Moon Circle. I will be there teaching how to wire wrap your own wand! The event runs from 8:30pm to 10:00pm and is $15 to participate. The $15 includes your wooden wand to wrap and a strip of 20 gauge wire to wrap your wand with. I encourage you all to bring your own small crystal to adorn your wand with as picking one from your own personal collection holds a special sort of significance. Don't fret if you don't have any; I'll have some available to purchase along with more wire if you want to get super detailed.

My next event after that is Allen First Fridays this Friday (9/1) from 6pm to 9pm. On the first Friday of the nicer months, the Allentown Association shuts down the Allen St. block between Delaware and Franklin for a few hours of fun! This Friday they will have a open drawing Sketch and Smoke event happening right on the sidewalk in front of Pine Apple Co and the Rooted Lounge. This is their second last 'First Friday'; the last one being October 6th. However, this one is my last one of the year. I hope you'll come out to join us!

Allen First Friday also kicks off a whole weekend of events for me. On Saturday (9/2), I'll be teaching a DIY Beaded Sun Catcher class at Hyatt's All things Creative from 12pm to 4pm. The sun catcher classes are all ages and I really encourage you to bring your children along with you to this one! It's the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend which can only mean school is starting back up again. Have a little family bonding time before their time is filled up with homework, sporting practices and after school clubs. Who knows, you guys may even love it so much you'll want to come back next time! The duration of the activity is only two and a half hours long but if the demand for the class grows, I can create two separate sessions. The first session will start at 12pm and then the second session can start at 1:30pm. I am so grateful to everyone at Hyatt's and especially management for allowing artisans to host classes in their workshop space for free. It will be a really great time!

Lastly, on Sunday (9/3) I'm heading down to East Aurora for Arts in the Alley from 12pm to 5pm. Over 20 different artisans set up shop right in Persons Alley for those to wander around and shop. 42 North Brewing company is conveniently a few steps away to grab a drink to sip on while you browse. This will actually be your only chance to shop with me in person before the end of September!

After this market, my schedule gets a little screwy. I have a couple classes planned during the weeks but I'll mostly be taking time to rest, recoup and spend my time with my loved ones. Being your own boss can be both rewarding and exhausting. I realized I was on a fast track to burnout. Next year, the break has to come sooner but hey, you live and you learn. So other than the first weekend of September and the scattered about classes, I'll be resting both my body and my mind so I can come into Grape Fest hot with all new ideas! That weekend is also my birthday weekend so you can expect to see some special happenings that you can only get by coming down to wine country!
